Wedding Cake Activities

At the wedding reception, at first many guests approach the cake table to admire it and the bride and the groom come later for a photo session and cutting the cake. Everyone enjoys the cake and it soon vanishes.

There are many more activities that make the wedding cake more about fun and less of tradition. It is long enjoyed tradition to watch the bride and the groom force a cake into each others mouth. But there are many other fun oriented and less messy activities to be considered.

One popular and affordable option is to have cup cakes instead of cake which can be a lot of fun. Cup cakes are decorated in alignment with the wedding theme, similar to the cake but the cup cakes are arranged on tiered plates and shown on the cake table until it is time to eat them. The cup cakes can be simply distributed to guests on plates.

The fun about the cup cakes is that it saves money compared to the whole wedding cakes as a per slice charge is collected by the caterers to cut and sere the wedding cake. The cup cakes for the bride and groom can be decorated differently from those for the guests.

Let the baker include a special prize or many cup cakes. A small toy or a charm can be baked into the cup cake. One who gets the charm is the winner of a special prize a gift basket or a gift certificate to a restaurant to a dance with the bride or groom.

A few brides favor the southern tradition of having charms baked into the wedding cake. This includes baking small charms or tiny toys into the cake which are later made into a charm bracelet for the bride.

Those who do not eat the cake are required to do the “Macarena” or the chicken dance while everyone eats the cake. If they dance continuously while guest eat the cake they win a prize or they sit down and relax as they are tired.

In order to get the cake the guests must perform an important dance first or some trivial question may be asked about the bride and the groom or about popular tune. Only correct answers fetch the cake for the guests. There could be competitions among tables or individuals.

Many people leave the party after the cake is cut and enjoyed which usually is often the meals and dancing and other traditional activities. Some extra effort should be put in and also activities if the bride and groom want the guest to stay after the cake are eaten. They can be asked to stay or can be subtle and fun.

Each guest gets a slip of paper with his/her cake which are prepared earlier an given to the catering company and instructed to place one folded strip of paper on each plate with the cake. The paper might give an agenda for the rest of the evening or ask the person to perform a little dance or to give the bride or groom a kiss or ask them to take the flower girl out on the dance floor for a spin. All the guests will be kept guess by the unknown and entertain all as the instructions are carried out.
