Dance Floor Activities

Dancing is a sine quo non component of many wedding receptions where people eagerly expect the couples “ first dance “ and the brides special dance with her father. If you are a member of the wedding party you can afford to get loose and funky.





Wedding planners may think of adding some fun and surprise to the dance floor by including a version of the “Bunny Hop” which though not unique is essential.

Many funny game and activities are available for the dance floor and they are sure to be hits. In the fun game “chicken dance” the guests observe a few brave couple dance, or finish their meals. You make every one get up and have fun.

Every one looks at a number under the chair when the MC or DJ calls a number will be 1 and 2 or more up to 5.

Where number 4 is announced by the DJ every one checks up the number under the chair, written on a piece of marking tape and attached to the under side of chairs when the reception is being set up. Each 4 will advance to the dance floor to do the chicken dance with the other 4s. Thus many people get out of their chairs and get an opportunity to meet and know other wedding guests which would be impossible otherwise.

Another dance floor activity which has become popular is to being a dance teacher for the wedding reception who will quickly walk people through their faces on the dance floor as a pre dance activity. It can be a waltz or tango before official music and dance begins.

The presence of the dance teacher enlivens the atmosphere at the reception from the beginning and people who are normally reticent and inhibited readily come out leaving aside their self consciousness. The wedding guests will feel more confident of their dancing skills before the official dance.

The “Snow Ball’ dance is another activity to persuade everyone to get on the dancing floor however shy or reticent he or she might be. This is a good way to jump start the dancing at the beginning of the evening.

This is the modus operandi of snow ball dancing. The wedding party, bride and the groom advance to the dance floor fun dance. The music is fast with a disco beat or a familiar fast song. After a bit of dancing the music stops and all the female members of the wedding party rush into the crowd and bring back a male each. The male members of the party do the same and bring a female member. The dancing begins again and it is repeated till the guests are dancing resulting in a snow ball effect.
