Centerpiece Activities

If the center piece is pretty or original there will be discussion regarding who will take home the centerpiece. There will be a game of amusing diversion to decide who will get the centerpiece and many guests will enjoy participating in it.





The MC or DJ will ask 20 questions. Every guest is given a paper, pen or pencil. The basic background information that the answer is an animal, place, person or thing is given. People can shout out question and the MC will answer yes or no. One who figures out the answer first gets the first centre piece. That table is excluded from the game and the game is repeated till one person from each table gets the centerpiece.

Sometimes the bride puts a number at the bottom of the centre piece and gives each guest a number. In the evening at same point a number is called. Each guest checks his number and who ever has the number called gets the center piece.

Each table is given a number between 1 and 10. The MC will move from table to table and make each guest do something a number of times. At the first table he will ask the guest to do ‘head, shoulder, knees, and toes six times and the first person to do it gets the centerpiece. At the second table any guest who sings the alphabet thrice or “twinkle twinkle little star” thrice will get the centerpiece.

In another fun activity the MC will announce what guests must produce to get the centerpiece. It can be a Georgia quarter or a mint or a doctor’s appointment card. One who produces the requested item gets the centerpiece.

The centerpiece can be offered either to the oldest person at the table or the one who took the most number of years to finish college or one who has the strongest talent according to his table mates. That person must exhibit his talent for the entire occupation party.

Akin to musical chairs you can play a game of musical dollar bills. A one dollar bill is passed on from person to person to the accompaniment of music. When the music stops whoever has the dollar bill and he gets the centerpiece. For fun the bill can be passed around when the music stops. The holder of the bill is asked to return it to the person who first supplied it. That is the person who gets the centerpiece.

According to the traditional ideas and fun, the birthday person gets the centerpiece. At each table, one whose birthday is closest to the wedding date gets the centerpiece or the longest married couple gets the centerpiece or the most recently married couple. The funny thing is that the centerpiece can go to the person with longest hair or the one with the strangest shoes according to his table mates.
